LEARNING HOW TO COPE WITH GRIEF
About The AfterLoss Subscription Program
The centerpiece of the AfterLoss Grief Recovery Program is the eight page Help Letter which is sent monthly to bereaved families directly from AfterLoss as a caring gift from your funeral home. Approximately one month after the loss, the first issue of AfterLoss will arrive at the home of your surviving family. Then each month, for a period of either six or twelve months, (this period is determined by you) we will send the next issue in the recovery series. Each issue has been carefully planned to provide hope, help and healing information about the subjects, the emotions and the questions most bereaved people face during this period after their loss.
The articles in the Help Letters have been written by world renowned Dr. Margie Kennedy-Reeves, Ph.D., who facilitates five different bereavement groups at the famous Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage, California. Dr. Kennedy -Reeves has counseled more than 20,000 people world-wide. She is also well acquainted with the many demands of the grief process, as she has suffered the loss of her husband, a child and her beloved father.
In every issue there is a Question and Answer page where questions asked during actual bereavement classes are answered by our editor, Dr. Kennedy-Reeves. There is a twelve-part series on Grief Work which provides specific information to survivors about the things they can do to help themselves understand the grief process and facilitate their recovery. The informative five-part series, Anatomy of Grief, is also fully explained in the first six issues. Other timely articles which explain the differences between "his" and "her" grief, how children grieve, loneliness, guilt, the effects of grief on health and how to face the holidays are all part of the AfterLoss series.
By reading the AfterLoss Help Letter, your family will begin to understand that grief is a very normal reaction to loss. They will come to understand that their feelings are normal and that they are not losing their minds. Many have told us,"I would have never made it through that first year if it hadn't been for my director who provided those monthly issues of AfterLoss for me."
To begin the AfterLoss Subscription Program for your family, simply provide us with the names and addresses of the families you want to receive the AfterLoss Help Letter. Tell us the number of monthly issues you want each family to receive (6 or 12, and you can vary this depending on the need or circumstances of each family) and mail your names to us, or fax (705-887-3262) or call us toll-free at 866-453-9277.
