Obituary for Donald Alfred Carroll

CARROLL, Donald A:
It is with a heavy heart that the family of Don Carroll announces his passing on July 3 at the age of 66 at the Hospice in Peterborough with his family by his side, after a lengthy fight with pancreatic and brain cancer. He leaves behind to mourn his two sons, Jerry, Robbie, his daughter Lisa, and his grandchildren. Don was born on the Gaspe Penninsula in Quebec and moved to Omemee around 1973. He loved tinkering with cars and trucks, going fishing and started woodworking in the last few years, an outlet that gave him both immense pleasure and frustration. Nevertheless, he persevered with the same determination and positive attitude - a quality which helped him live with cancer for the past 5 years. Don was the real deal- a genuine person, he left a lasting impression on everyone he met, and he will be missed immensely by family and friends. Don's family is grateful for the exceptional care he received at Hospice Peterborough and prior to that the Oncology Staff at Peterborough Regional Hospital. Due to Covid restrictions a graveside service will take place at 1 pm July 8, at the Emily Park Cemetery. Condolences may be forward to Jardine Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Hospice Peterborough or the Canadian Cancer Society.
