Obituary

Edna Constance Hawkins (Clark)

November 24, 1925- December 4, 2019

With heavy hearts but immense joy for Mom’s life, we announce the peaceful passing of our dear mom in her 95th year, surrounded by her loving family at home in Oakville. Predeceased by her devoted husband “Fee”, John O. Hawkins, her brother Alan (Jean), and her parents, Beatrice and Raymond Clark. Survived by her loving sisters Ruth (Vern) and Diane (Ron). Lovingly remembered always by her children John (Debbie), Janice (Keith) and Barb (Cary). Proud Grandmother to Ryan (Lexie), Kara (Gord), Lucas (Asako); Dave (Jessie), Katherine (Chris), Kevin (Stephanie), Kirsten (Aaron), and Kelly (Olexiy).Special Great-Grandmother to Ayden, Ronan, Jaxson, Mila, Ellie, Chloe and Conor. Loving Mom, wife, sister, daughter, aunt, proud Grandmother, special Great-Grandmother, Nurse, Farmerette (WW11), family business accountant, seamstress, knitter, master crafter (family Christmas stockings and hand made cards), are just some of her many talents and roles during her 94 years. Edna had a sharp mind and a quick wit, which she shared right up to the end. Her life was lived with a humble Christian spirit, a generous giving heart and a keen sense of fairness to all. She was the ultimate environmentalist before her time. “I have lived a good long life and I have no regrets! My life will go on through my children, grandchildren and great grandchildren…. I will be able to watch down from above as they continue to grow with future weddings and births…..” Edna’s love for her family was only surpassed by her family’s love for her!
Thanks for the memories Mom! Rest in peace! A heartfelt sincere thank you to Mom’s caring and compassionate Home Care Palliative Care Team in Oakville: Angela Lee, Dr. Burhan, Anna, Dr. Pyle and others; Ross Memorial Hospital staff and the Cardiac Catheterization and Cardiac staff at Peterborough Regional Health Center. A celebration of "Edna's life" will take place at JARDINE FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION & TRIBUTE CENTRE, 8 Princes’ St. West, Fenelon Falls on Saturday December 21, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. followed by a reception at the funeral home. We have fond memories Aunt Edna at family gatherings, particularly Christmas gatherings, when the Hawkins clan would gather at our grandparents' home in Alliston. Edna was gracious and elegant and kind. She showed a genuine interest in how each cousin was progressing as we aged. She had a calm and supportive manner---which was a challenge with so many aunts and uncles and cousins, so excited about Christmas, under one roof. As time passed and our families expanded we saw less of Aunt Edna, but in her letters to mother and at the times spent together, she always expressed her great love and pride in her children and grandchildren. We hope that many wonderful memories of Aunt Edna will comfort our cousins, John, Janice and Barbara, and their families in this time of loss.

Very sorry to hear of the passing of my aunt Edna, wife of my uncle Fee and mother to my cousins , john, barb, and Janice, a great family that I didn't get to see enough of after we were grown up but I do remember seeing them all at Christmas at Grandma and Grandpa Hawkins every year along with all my other Aunts and Uncles

We had great times at Christmas playing games organized by Uncle Fee, and got to see Grandpa Hawkins do a little step dance for us. The star of the festivities of course was our Grandma who everyone had the greatest love for. Now they are all gone and greatly missed.
