Obituary for Frances June Hartwick (Graham)

HARTWICK, Frances June (Graham)
Age 86, died on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 in Lindsay, Ontario. She was born to Alexander Graham and Frances (Coyle), immigrants from Ireland. Throughout her entire life, her siblings, Ethel, Colin, Norm, Ruth and Dave, were at the centre of her being. One of her greatest joys was sitting around the dining room table with her children, engrossed in spirited banter. Above all, and of which we are eternally grateful, Mom instilled in us the virtue of an Irish saying… “may you walk tall in the sunshine, and never want for more”. Upon her retirement, she took up playing the piano and the violin. She was passionate about music and dance, particularly fiddle tunes and “jam” sessions. Fran was a member of the Harmony Belles local singing group, joining in on entertaining in Seniors homes, even though she was reticent in nature. Fran was also an accomplished quilt maker, knitter and landscape painter. She was an avid reader and naturalist at heart, who willingly shared stories, and her appreciation of birds, trees and wildlife. She is preceded in death, by her husband, Philip Hartwick, and her brothers; Dave (Bev), Colin and his wife Alma, and her sister Ethel Ashe O’Brien, and brother-in-law, Rudy (Ruth). Frances is survived by her children: Gary Epps (Myrna), Marnie Epps, Alan Epps (Colleen), Karen Leckie (Daryl), Carl Brohm (Lorie), and Nancy Jones, and her brother, Norm (Mary), her sister, Ruth Janke, and her dear friend Mel Thompson. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Rachel Epps, Erin Katie Jenkins, Joshua Dolan, Jeffery Dolan, Cara Mitchell, Jessica Cross, Benjamin Leckie, Jared Leckie, Shane Brohm, Ashley Brohm, Cassandra Smith and Dana Jones, and her great-grandchildren: Madeleine, Juliet, Jakob, Sophia, Cameron, Cooper, Max, Ember, Deegan, Levi, Jackson, Alexis, Jaidon, Liam, Sean, Kayleigh, Gabriel, Bernadette, Alastair, Georgia and Beauden. The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to all who have kindly offered their support, but particularly, Dr. Stuart Bothwell, Dr. Sara Francis and their teams, as well as Caroline, Jacquie and Lauren from Community Care. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. A Celebration of Life will be communicated at a later date.
