Passed away peacefully at Fenelon Court Long Term Care in Fenelon Falls on Thursday, April 21, 2016. Survived by his extremely devoted wife Catherine Janssen (nee Lonergan) of R.R. 2 Cameron. Loving father of Manfred Janssen and his partner Mary Louise Boylan of Whitehorse, Yukon, Tara and her husband James Turnbull of Hanover, and Sigrid Heisler of Milton. Loving brother of Hans (Maria) and their children of Bramen, Germany. Henry is pre-deceased by his former wife Ruth Walker; son Bodo; brother-in-law Warde Day; siblings Magda, Karl, Emma; parents Minna and Hinrich; and his in-laws Bess and Lex Lonergan. Lovingly remembered Poppa of Elliott, Howard and Ryan Turnbull. Special father figure to his nephew Lex Day (Joanne Costain) of Victoria B.C., his nieces Erin Day (Scott Wilson) of Calgary, Alberta and Shannon Day (Geoff Marriott) of Toronto. Much loved uncle to Lara Jackson (Jeff), Matthew Edwards (Alex), Meghan Edwards (Franco) and Molly Edwards. Cherished brother-in-law of Cherryl Day (nee Lonergan) of Toronto, Helen Edwards (Larry) of Burlington. Henry was a special man, a wonderful friend, and always had a smile ear to ear. A man with many stories to tell, a man of simple pleasures who saw every last beauty in nature and all of of his surroundings. He was a great rock to his daughter Tara who will miss him dearly. Special thanks for the outstanding care and compassion shown by the wonderful staff at Fenelon Court, Cameron Wing, especially during the final stage of his life journey. The comfort to both Henry and Cathy never went unnoticed! The family of Henry Janssen will receive friends at the JARDINE FUENRAL HOME, CREMATION & TRIBUTE CENTRE, 8 Princes' St. W., Fenelon Falls, on Monday, April 25th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A private family funeral service will follow on Tuesday. If desired memorial donations to The Foundation for Fighting Blindness of Canada or to the Residents Council of Fenelon Court Long Term Care.
