Obituary for John David Campbell

JOHN DAVID CAMPBELL
April 16, 1946-August 21, 2021

It is with great sadness in our hearts that we share news of the very sudden passing of John. After an incredibly brief diagnosis of cancer, John came home to be with his family in Fenelon. He did not suffer. He was at home with wife Judy and son Andy and passed peacefully in his sleep. After graduating from Guelph University and then obtaining his B.Ed., he entered the teaching profession at Galt Training School for Girls and then moving on to Red Lake District High School, then Principal of Northern Lights Secondary School in Moosonee. He & his family returned to his long time summer home town of Fenelon Falls and retired after 16 years as Head of Special Education at Fenelon Falls Secondary School. His fondest years were spent in Northwestern Ontario in Red Lake where he delighted in many fly-in fishing trips with his buddies. Always on the adventure to catch the biggest pickerel with his best buddy Brett. Exploring Canada from Vancouver Island to Labrador either by rail or road was his passion. His most memorable journey was a trip on the Alaskan Highway with Andy. John is predeceased by his parents (James & Freeda Campbell) and his eldest son Edward. He is survived by his wife Judy of 44 years of Fenelon Falls; son Andy of Whistler, BC; grandchildren Kathryn and Klare and daughter-in-law Shannon of Bobcaygeon. Cremation has taken place, with a private family service. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to Community Care, Fenelon Falls, or The Federation of Anglers and Hunters would be appreciated.
