Tate, Katherine Louise

With great sadness the family of Kathy Tate announces her sudden passing on Wednesday, January 15, 2020. Her family will miss her beautiful smile that could light up a room. Kathy was the loving wife of George Tate for 41 years of marriage. Beloved daughter of the late Lorne and Edith Metcalf. Dearest sister to Murray (April), Janet (Guillaume) and Laurel (Bert). and dear sister-in-law to John (Bev), Penny (Steve) and Gerry. Special aunt and great-aunt to many loved nieces and nephews. Wonderful friend to Allan and Colleen and many others. Kathy adored her four-legged companions Duffy, Charley, Herbie and Holly, who provided endless happiness and fun times. Kathy worked for more than 37 years at Central Lake Ontario Conservation Authority in Oshawa and enjoyed her time working. Kathy and George always vacationed in the Kawartha's and loved it so much they moved here to be close to the outdoors in order to enjoy their love of boating and snowmobiling. A private memorial service will take place. If desired memorial donations in memory of Kathy can be made to The Humane Society of Kawartha Lakes or the Ontario Federation of Cerebral Palsy. I was saddened and shocked to learn of Kathy's passing. I worked along side Kathy at CLOCA for nearly 20 years. She was an absolute delight and a breath of fresh air. She was always smiling and so cheerful. She loved talking about her dogs, whom she adored and her partner in life, George. Kathy was elated when it was time to move north, from Oshawa and she continued to commute daily until her retirement. She was so excited to be moving onto the next chapter of her life. I'm thankful to have known such a kind soul. My deepest sympathies to her family and loved ones. I wish you all peace.

I had the incredible pleasure of working along side Kathy for nearly 20 years. She had a smile that could light up a room. She loved sharing stories about her Dogs and her beloved George. She was in her happy place when she and George moved north to the Kawarthas as she began the countdown to her retirement which she looked so forward to. She was a breath of fresh air, always positive, cheerful and caring. I was shocked an saddened to learn the news of her sudden passing. My heart goes out to her family. Rest in Peace my heavenly friend.

As many were, I was so very saddened by the news of Kathy's passing. She was a lovely and caring women who had many talents. Kathy was a great listener and she had this knack of sharing her life with you making you feel a part of her family, while listening intently to your own stories of family, friends and activities. She was incredible, never forgetting dates and details of events and conversations, likely due to her outstanding organizational skills! Kathy always made sure that it was not too long before getting together to shop or have lunch.
I am so blessed to have had Kathy as a dear friend. I have many fond memories of Kathy, memories shopping, meeting for lunch, and exploring small towns. I will treasure these memories for years to come. She was incredible, never forgetting dates and details of events and conversations and always making sure it was not too long before we got together.
To Kathy's family, please accept my sincere condolences. She will be missed, but never forgotten.

Hard to believe Kathy is gone. So kind and friendly. It's been 30 years since we first met at Sandy Beach, when Duffy was the star attraction on our road! George, you are in our thoughts and prayers. To all the family, we are so sorry for your loss.
