Obituary for Helen Peck

L Helen Peck (nee Gray)

November 27th, 1922 ~ May 11th, 2022

Helen passed on peacefully in her 100th year, after a short stay at Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay.

Helen was born on her family farm near Alberton, Prince Edward Island. One of 9 siblings, she was the last of her generation. During WWII, at the age of 19, Helen joined the Canadian Women’s Army Corps, and left her beloved Island to serve at Canadian Military Headquarters, Signals, R.C. Sigs, in London, England from 1942~1946.

There, Helen met her future husband; Flt. Lt. George Peck, a RCAF night fighter pilot from Toronto. They raised their family in Scarborough, ON. For the last 40 years Helen made her home in and around Fenelon Falls, where she loved to paint, winning several awards at the Fenelon Fair; garden, and volunteer her time to her community.

A loving mother to Gary Peck, Shirley Cuthbertson and Daphne Moore. Beloved grandmother to; (the late) Jennifer Garvin, Diane Peck, Scott Cuthbertson, Paul Cuthbertson, Heather Cuthbertson and Eric Moore and their respective families.

Helen was a beloved friend and member of her Fenelon Falls community, and remembered by her friends and extended family all over North America.

In keeping with Helen’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Interment to follow at a later date.
