Obituary

NICHOLS, Rolly:
At his home in Bobcaygeon, on Monday April 20, 2020, in his 71st year. Rolly is predeceased by his wife Mary Lou Nichols (nee James) 2019. Loving father of Lindsay(Ian), Patrick (Janet), Abigail. and Katie. Devoted grandfather of Leah, Markus and Matthew Roland Nichols who was named for his Grandpa. Dear brother of Jenny (Joe), June (Barry) and Holly. Remembered by his many nieces and nephews. Rolly was a long time employee of Northern Casket. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and fishing guide. In retirement Rolly enjoyed making fishing lures and golfing with his son and friends and always looked forward to the hunting camp with the boys. In keeping with Rolly's wishes cremation has taken place and a party with a BBQ and fish fry will take place at a later date. Rolly said, "I don't want anyone feeling sorry for me. Lets just have a party". Memorial donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. We are still reeling from the sudden death of our friend Rolly Nichols. Rolly and Bill would take their summer holiday at the same time so that they could fish, play golf, drink a rum (or two!), and share a few stories. Rolly’s stories were mostly about his family and his many friends; and we feel like we know all of you through him. He was so proud of how strong and independent his children were, of “Rolly’s Runners” the family 5k race team, and proud to be a grandfather. And, we heard of hunting, fishing, and golf trips with extended family and friends. In Rolly’s stories and in his life, the Nichols family was always the best, his boat always caught the most fish, and of course, as we all know and loved, he was “The King”! The best cook, the best lure maker, the best golfer, the best wing shot, the best casket lid maker, the best “UNO” card player, the best bartender, the best dog man at deer camp, and always the best fisherman! “Why not be #1?” he’d ask with a grin! Rolly and Bill would talk often by phone, just to say “Hello” and check-in on each other as good friends do. Rolly was a fun, kind, and thoughtful friend; and we’re going to miss him. “Ciao” Rolly, ole Bud and “Hail to The King”! Until we meet again by God's grace.
Bill, Jennifer, Kelly, and Sam Dickson; Pittsburgh, PA.

Bill and family We are truly touched by this. You have summed up the man we love so much. Although we have a huge sense of loss and almost a feeling of having our time cut short, it is through memories and stories like this that we are finding comfort. Being able to share this with our kids is what we look forward too. Thank you for the years and years of friendship you gave him. He truly was so fond of you and your family. With thanks Janet and Patrick Nichols and family.
