Condolence: "Aunt Joan" was such a wonderful part of our boys' lives growing up.She attended many of their school concerts & always took an interest in what they were learning. I fondly remember a time she was looking after the boys while we attended a local wedding. Wanting to be part of the fun, she walked the boys down to the church to help with the car decorating! She very kindly looked after our dog "Digger" on occasion which was an adventure in itself! We will fondly remember her zest for life, whimsy, & kindness to us all.

Condolence: Although we had lost touch over the years, we had never forgotten Joan. She made a positive impact on everyone who knew her. We remember Jon and our son Scott( same age) running all over the church together having fun together in that nurturing environment. So we think of you Jon at this time, for surely you will all miss her, and that wonderful twinkle in her eye when she was hatching up a fun idea.
We also have a wonderful keepsake- a Tolle Santa- that she made us decades ago, which is out every Christmas season and which of course prompt fond memories of her.
God bless you all at this time.

Condolence: We will so miss "Aunt" Joan, and her calm, humorous and always inspiring presence in our lives. She was always there for us and at every special occasion, sharing her heart, energy and passion. She was fun--dressing up, making crafts, being social, adding beautiful details with her calligraphy. She had style (pardon the pun) from her Volvo to her antiques to her interesting and lovely clothes.
She was easy to make laugh, never had an unkind word to say about anyone, was a wonderful friend and great company. We could go on. We Love You, Joan!!

Condolence: A HELIOTROPE BOUQUET: Joan Styles has been a consistent, MAGNETIC presence at Ragtime festivals for decades. With her many friends, she has created innumerable PLEASANT MOMENTS that rank among THE FAVORITE. She created an aura of authenticity at festivals by wearing stylish ORIGINAL RAGS that were a direct indication of SOMETHING DOING! On one occasion, she even dressed as a LILY QUEEN! One of her favorite events was THE RAGTIME DANCE in which she excelled at the SWIPESY CAKEWALK and the grand MARCH MAJESTIC. With her abundance of enthusiasm, humor, warmth, joy, GRACE AND BEAUTY, there is no question that she will be remembered as THE NONPAREIL. We were all EASY WINNERS for having known her, but now we are just WEEPING WILLOWs trying to find SOLACE. Perhaps it lurks in REFLECTION of her.” ~Rich Berry

Condolence: I was so sad to learn of Joan's passing. She was one of our most faithful attendees of the Scott Joplin Ragtime Festival in Sedalia, MO. She was so fun-loving and was always in a "vintage-y" outfit at the festival! She will be so sorely missed by all of her Ragtime Family!

Condolence: Dear Jim, John and Lisa and families,
I was saddened to learn of Joan's passing. What a talented lady she was. I enjoyed scrapbooking sessions with her and will treasure the homemade birthday cards she made for me. (I always made sure she knew I wanted a "Styles" original!) She will be missed in so many ways. My thoughts are with you at this difficult time. Colette
