Clarke Watson
As a boy I grew up in the well drilling world with my grandfather and my uncles Ken and Don.
I remember tagging along to Sutton to watch Ken, Eric, Ruth and Linda stock car racing.
At 17, I got to drive Ken to Blue Mountain where he was drilling some wells. It seems Ken didn’t believe in stop signs or speed limits in those days and had lost his licence for a short time.
He taught me to drill wells, work hard, drive trucks and all that goes with the drilling business.
If you had a problem in drilling he could always provide good advice, lent his tools to other drilling firms and this was the same in his private life. How many of us remember stopping by to enjoy a fresh perked cup of coffee and chat with Ken and Ruth?
My remarkable uncle had a significant influence on my life and many others.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Rest in peace Uncle Ken.
