Albert "Al"  Davidson
DAVIDSON, Albert:
1917 - 2014 passed away peacefully in his 98th year at Case Manor in Bobcaygeon on September 25th. He was predeceased by his wife of 65 years Elizabeth Donald (Bette) and six brothers and sisters. He is lovingly remembered by his son Don (Chris), daughters Catherine (Tom) and Ann (Wayne); grandchildren: Tara (Len), David (Melissa), Jonathan (Andrea), Kyle (Laura), Thomas (Michele), Arianne (Scott); and seven great grandchildren: Payton, Justin, Cameron, Carly, Bryce, Evelyn and Margaret.
Al was born and raised in Toronto, the son of Hedley Davidson and Maggie Ann Fordyce. He was a veteran of WWll serving in the Canadian Armed Forces in Halifax from 1942-1945. He obtained his chartered accountant designation and after the war settled in Clarkson, Brantford, Kleinberg and eventually Kawartha Lakes. In Brantford, he worked for Harding Carpets for over 25 years initially as a general manager and retiring as president. He was active in several community organizations including Kiwanis, Rotary Club and United Way. He also served on the boards of Harvey Woods, Western Foundry and the Canadian National Exhibition.
Al and Bette loved nature and the outdoors. They were active in many sports including tennis, golf, curling, skiing and canoeing. They traveled the world from the Yukon to the Antarctic. In later years he developed interests in photography and wood turning. He will be fondly remembered for his generous spirit, love of adventure and keen sense of honesty and integrity.
A reception will be held at JARDINE FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION & TRIBUTE CENTRE, 8 Princes' St. W., Fenelon Falls on Sunday, September 28, 2014 between 2:00 and 4:00 pm with a remembrance service at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice Kawartha Lakes, the Kawartha Lakes Field Naturalists or a charity of your choice.
