Trip to Toronto

In the early 80's both Brian and I had dirt bikes and we used to run them up and down Prospect Road and the other concession roads between Kirkfield and Bolsover. He had a blue Yamaha that was faster than my Honda but he would let me keep up with him...most times. In 1983 he invited me to come with him to Toronto to see a live Supercross event being held at Exhibition Stadium. The trip to Toronto and the event itself was quite exciting for a couple of 17 year olds at the time. I still have a vivid memory of us walking around Exhibition Place after the performance, in the dark trying to find a taxi to take us back to the hotel...and us wandering off in a wrong direction. It was pitch black out with limited street lights and for some reason we decided it made sense to walk towards Lakeshore Blvd to find a taxi...by some miracle we eventually found a taxi in the middle of nowhere and got ourselves back to the hotel. It was quite an adventuresome weekend for two teenagers from the country. That trip was one of the first times I travelled to the big city with a friend and is a fond memory for me. I will always associate Brian with adventure in my youth and with not being afraid to try something new. Thanks Brian.
