Obituary for Florence Norwood (Brocklebank)

NORWOOD, Florence

‘Flo’ Florence (Brocklebank) Norwood passed away quietly on Saturday July 2, 2005, at Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay.
She is survived by her loving husband and soulmate of 65 years, ‘Jake’ John Albert Norwood, her four daughters Jacqueline (Alf) Messenger of London, Ontario, Maureen (Gerry) Bird of Toronto, Ontario, Judi (Gerry) Gelowitz of Kamloops, British Columbia and Chris Dunne of Langley, British Columbia. Also survived by her sister Christina Scott, sister-in-law Peg Brocklebank and in-laws Olive Johnston, Eunice Norwood and Bob and Mae Norwood.
She will be deeply missed by her loving grandchildren: David (Alice) Messenger, Ellen (Dave) McKegney, Kate (Bill) Matichuk, Mike (Jen) Messenger, Jean-Paul (Diane) Desmarais, Dan (Nikki) Desmarais , Laura Bird, Stephen Bird, Jake (Caleigh) Gelowitz, Andy Gelowitz, Toni Dunne and Jennifer Dunne. She also leaves behind sixteen great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
Born in Egremont, England, on February 23, 1918 she moved to Windsor at the age of eight. After marrying Jake in 1939, they lived in many locations: Windsor; Salisbury, S. Rhodesia; Vancouver; Oakville; Montreal; and Bangkok, Thailand. Since retirement in 1980 they have lived in Fenelon Falls where they formed many friendships through their involvement with St. James Anglican Church, Rotary, Curling and Golf.
Flo goes to join her parents Abraham and Hannah Brocklebank and brothers Harry and Abie.
She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society and to the Canadian Lung Association.
A private family service was held on Monday, July 4th, followed by cremation. Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life at a Memorial Service to be held at St. James Anglican Church, Bond St. East Fenelon Falls on Saturday, July 9th, 2005, at 1:30 pm.
