Obituary for Helen Louise Goode (Stacey)

Helen Louise Goode (Stacey)
GOODE (nee Stacey): Helen Louise

Passed away peacefully at Fenelon Court Long Term Care, on Wednesday March 26, 2014, after suffering from a stroke at the age of 94. Daughter of the late Alvin Stacey and Mabel (Mantle) of Bowmanville, ON. Helen was the beloved wife of the late Walter Goode. (2000) Cherished mother of John Goode and his wife Gail and Patricia and her husband Steve Zahorec, all of Rosedale ON. Loving Grandmother to 4 grandsons and 6 great grandchildren. A lot of extended family were special to Helen and they all know who they are. She also leaves behind brother Alvin Stacey (Betty), the late Ray Stacey (Audrey) and sister Margaret Gunvald (late Ole). Helen and Walt moved from Bowmanville to spend their retirement years at Grand Island, Balsam Lake and winters in Florida. Helen was one of the Bomb Girls in Ajax during the war and she loved to garden, sing, and enjoyed watching sports. She was always up for the job, building the home in Bowmanville and also the cottage on Grand Island, or throwing rocks in the dock. She was always there to help out those who needed assistance. With a song in her heart and a smile on her lips, that is how she will be remembered. Cremation has taken place and there will be a celebration of life at a later date at her daughter Patricia's home in Rosedale. Donations in Helen's memory can be made to the Ross Memorial Hospital or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
