Mary 'Elsie'  Lough (Corrigan)
Passed away peacefully shortly after noon on Sunday, June 6, 2010, a few days short of her 96th birthday. She was in the company of children and grandchildren at Fenelon Court in Fenelon Falls where she lived since last September. Elsie is survived by three children, David (St. John's), Steve (Peter Kepes) (Toronto), Judy (John) Beall of Rosedale, six grandchildren, Chris (Mercy), Kevin (Casey) and Colin all of Alberta and Carly, Emily and Marcie of Rosedale and four great-grandchildren, Hayden, Sean, Sienna and Keana. All were together last year for her 95th birthday. Elsie was born in Ottawa, Ontario and lived most of her life in Iroquois Falls except for brief periods of school in Toronto and wartime work in Ottawa and Montreal. She was predeceased by her husband Doug in 1966. She played many sports and loved her golf and curling, was an active volunteer and served in leadership roles in several organizations in Iroquois Falls. A lake near Mile 10 is named after her and is near two other lakes named after her father and mother, Tom and Lena Corrigan. Cremation has taken place. Interment will be in Iroquois Falls at a later date to be determined. Donations in Elsie's name can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society for whom she volunteered for many years or the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
