Condolence From: Dave and Linda Chalmers
Condolence: Dear Leslie and family:
Linda and I wish to our express our sincerest condolences over your loss. Having worked with Mike ( aka Hutch or Schneider ) a lot over the years I can attest to his great love of family and his care about the fire department and the safety of other firefighters. His determination on the subject of good equipment for the department is known far and wide.
I can also attest to fried egg sandwiches (single handedly he raised the cholesterol level of the department), stuffed pork tenderloin, turkey dinners, roast beef dinners, mashed potatoes with 3 pounds of garlic and cold meals on Saturday and Sunday during the summer. Having Mike on a truck was always good, not just the food. The best and most important part was that no matter what else might be going on, I could always count on him and trust him at emergency calls.
I missed running into Mike after I retired and I miss him even more now. I hope you all know just how proud you can be of Mike's career with the Fire Department.

Thinking of you and Mike.

Dave and Linda

Condolence: Dear Leslie and family,

I was so sad to hear the news of Mike. Over the past few years your husband and father has been a touchstone for me. Facing some challenges in a new job in the Peterborough Training Division 8 years ago, I was always eager to speak with Mike for his perspective and advice. Where many experienced firefighters would be ready to tell you how to fix things, Mike always demonstrated an openness to listen, laugh, and offer suggestions to not take others too seriously. That grew on to a good friendship that was always greeted with a handshake and laugh.

During our last conversation in the fall, we talked about the importance of his family, and he spoke how much he valued the support of Leslie and his kids. His love and positive outlook on life was infectious. Your father and husband was one of the touchstone figures that said - "spend more time with family....they are the ones who matter."

The conversations will be missed, but his message and spirit live on.
