Life Story for Ross Jones

Ross Jones
Jones A. Ross: (WW II Verteran)

On Thursday, March 12, 2009 at Fenelon Court Long Term Care. Ross Jones of Fenelon Falls was in his 83rd year. Ross will be missed by his sister Lorraine Graham, formerly of Bobcaygeon, now of Newmarket and her daughter Karen. Ross is pre-deceased by his first wife Margaret (nee Glenn) Jones, after 38 years of marriage and his son Jimmy Jones. Sadly Ross has been estranged from his other children Gilbert, Sandy, Karen and Kim for many years but wished them well where ever they were. He will also be missed by his wife Susan (nee Liscombe) and her children, even though he and Susan have been seperated since 2007. During WWII Ross volunteered his service in the Royal Canadian Navy for the duration of hostilities and was stationed in Halifax where he served on destroyers and anti-submarine patrols. After the war he could not settle and re-enlisted in the Navy for five years. He then drove tractor trailers for the Canadian National Railroad until his happy retirement to Log Chateau Park, north of Fenelon Falls with his wife Peggy. Ross was very active in the community and local ball and hockey players have fond memories of Ross and the years spent coaching and managing teams. The family of Mr. Jones will receive friends at JARDINE FUNERAL HOME, 8 Princes' St. West, Fenelon Falls on Tuesday, March 24th, 2009 from 12 noon until time of complete Legion Service in the chapel at 2 p.m. After the service all are invited to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #238 Fenelon Falls, to reminisce and for refreshments. Interment will be held at Rosemount Memorial Gardens in Peterborough on Wednesday, March 25th at 11:00 a.m. At Ross's request anyone wishing to make donations should do so to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 238, Building Fund, 1 Veteran's Way, Fenelon Falls, ON K0M 1N0.
