It was always an exciting time to be invited to the Pearce farm to play with Gail.

She had the prettiest mother; a real play house [an old covered milk wagon]; a phonograph to listen to the latest 'singles'. We could never arrive fast enough.

It was a spring day; and we could scoot quickly across the fields.

The field directly in line with our house and the Pearce house; had been recently plowed.

We choose it; it would get us there 'quicker'!

Unfortunately we got 'stuck in the mud". We couldn't move.

We took off our goloshes; but then our feet/legs were stuck.

There was Ruby and our Mom with long sticks; trying to pull us out. To no avail.

We finally had to lie down and roll out.

We had many laughs over the years of images of Ruby and Mom with their long sticks.
