From the time we first met, I thought Reg was indeed "A Class Act." He was able to do so many things so well, without making
those around, possessing lesser or fewer skills, feel inferior for their limited athletic abilities or training. On the contrary, he
would simply set about to enhance their qualifications. He taught and encouraged so many toward achieving goals most, I'm
sure, didn't imagine were within their reach. Indeed, I would challenge any of you to just try to list those from Four Mile Lake alone,
who have gone on to competitive skiing, after mastering their very first 'ride' or jump behind Reg's boat or with his extremely capable
coaching from along side. There have been just too many to remember.
And, his fields of expertise were certainly not restricted to those of sports and sports equipment. He was as adept at construction,
construction equipment and building design, as he had been at the business end of a water-ski tow rope or mid-calf deep in fresh
powder. He possessed the uncanny ability to recognize that a task often could be handled much better or simpler if the provided
tools were more appropriately designed, and he also held the knowledge and experience required to improve and/or improvise to
address the task at hand.
And then, of course, there were his driving skills! No one who knew Reg could argue that he hadn't been one damn fine driver. Whether
at the controls of a road, snow or water craft, one always felt rather assured that we would get to our destination - perhaps a little faster
than we really wanted to - safely.
We remember so well, and are so grateful for, the hospitalities afforded the two of us - and our extended family - at Four Mile.
Above all of that, Reg was a man of his word. He could always be depended upon to do as he said, and expected the same in return.
He was indeed a unique and humane human being, from who I personally learned a great deal about many aspects of life, and feel very
privileged to have once called my friend. My biggest regret is that neither of us made greater effort to reconcile our differences, sooner.
Our sincerest condolences to you Sunny and to his family members,
Gerry and Tonny Clarke
