Patrick and Nancy Grecco

A few years ago Dave phoned Nancy and me and said that he and Judy would be over the next weekend to take us on a "Fantasy Mystery Tour". The Mennonite summer countryside was beautiful around Kitchener. We stopped at two markets, one for bags of fresh peanuts in the shells and another for Mennonite sausages, pork chops and cheese. Both markets offered us 10 and 15 percent discounts because Dave had computer generated ID cards for each of us and large signs for the van proclaiming "Fantasy Tours Inc." We looked very official. Dave's honesty was legend and so it was no surprise that Dave declined the discounts and we paid full prices. Honest Dave had other character flaws. Among them loyalty, kindness, respect for others, a sense of adventure, love - all founded on Christian Catholic faith. Each evidenced themselves in our countless excursions to Vermont for skiing or special hotel weekends for swimming and shopping with Teresa and Mary... and of course, special occasions such as 1st Communions,Confirmations with backyard family BBQ's. Lesser known about Dave was his excellent (recording level)voice. Dave had a dulcet basso profundo voice... a vocal talent hidden because alas!...Dave was at times a shy man. Dave compensated for his shyness with his generous heart. Heart in the Italian language is spelled "cuore". The notion of Grandfather is expressed as "Father-heart". I called my Grandfather "Papacuore". Although Dave did not get to see his Grandson, he knew him because he knew Mary...and his Grandson will get to know his "Papacuore" because he knows his Mother Mary.
