Condolence From: Murray Snell
Condolence: Hey Homer. I was saddened to hear the news. It's been long time since Hogs Hollow and your Dad's boat up on Lake Simcoe. Funny how we loose track of people over the years.

Condolence: Although I have only known Doug & Jill for a short time, compared to most, they made me feel like family from day one. Being JR's girlfriend, they welcomed me into their home with open arms... even when we later brought along our rambunctious additions to the family (our pups Bailey & Crystal) on visits.

These visits always lead to hours chatting with Jill in the kitchen while JR would catch the game, and have a few cocktails, with Doug in the den or the clubhouse. For some, visiting family can feel like a chore - but for us, it was more like a weekend getaway and something we very much enjoyed.

JR mentioned to me the other day that he was most upset for his father to be taken from him now, after having only 2 years to reconnect with him following 8 years of being away for school/playing hockey.

It is with deep sadness that he has lost his father, friend and wealth of endless knowledge. There are more times than I can count that he would call Doug when we had questions about building or fixing something around the house, more recently questions about the boat we were looking to buy or often times, just to shoot the breeze & say hello.

There is nothing that can replace Doug or the relationship between a father & his son. He will always be missed.

Condolence From: R. Craig Holmes
Condolence: It is with great sadness to hear about the loss of Uncle Doug. My thoughts go out to Jill, my cousins J.R. and Jason and my father Bob at this difficult time. I wish them the strength and rewards of many good memories of happier days past. I am thankful for the last visit I had with Doug. A ride up to Fenelon Falls with Bob and Christopher found Doug on his way to a dentist appointment. We hung around with Jill awaiting his return. Checking out his toys my knee jammed the horn into the off-road golf cart deafening us for what seemed like an hour as the squeal echoed and bounced in the confinements of the garage. It seems fitting now that the silence came only as Doug rolled in. His face lit up as he talked about his boys....J.R.'s years of success in hockey and Jason following his steps with the Toronto Police. He was happy to hear of my own career with the OPP and shared his many stories of his early days on the Harley. Leaving that day I truely didn't think it would be the last time to see him.

Rest in Peace

Condolence: Dearest Jill, I am so sorry to hear of Doug's passing. I hope you are doing okay, and if I can do anything for you, please let me know. I didn't know Doug well, however the day we spent on your boat leaves me with very fond memories of Doug and you together. Please take care of yourself, and give me a call if you are going to be in town. Sorry I will not be able to attend the service. Love Debra
