On Thursday, February 13, 2014 at Lakeridge Health in Bowmanville, Greg Barrington of Burnt River passed in his 67th year. Beloved husband of Karin Barrington. Loving father of Christopher (Candice) of Phelpston, ON, Sabine of Fenelon Falls,ON, Michael of Burnt River, ON, Lisa (Nicholas) of Peterborough, ON, and George of Lindsay, ON. Greg also is the foster-father of Chris and Evan. Dear grandfather of Kaitlyn, Liam and Braeden. Greg is survived by his father, Harry Barrington. Brother Leonard (Gail), Sister Marion Brenna (Phonse) of New Waterford, Nova Scotia, Sisters Joan Stevens (Tom) and Terry McKenzie of Dartmouth, N.S. and brother Harry Barrington (Pat) of Stevensville, On. Uncle Greg will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Greg will also be sadly missed by his mother-in-law, Effi Fleischhauer and sister and brother-in-law, Susanne and Gunter Meyer all of Fenelon Falls. Greg has been an active member of the Kinmount Fair Board for many years, including the position of president. Greg has also served with the Lions Club for several years. Greg has played an influential role in the lives of many young people as a caring foster parent. Greg's unique abilities and style of training horses designed by him as Motivational Response Training earned him the respected title of a Horse Whisperer. His experience has led him to develop equine therapy for troubled children. The family of Greg Barrington will receive friends at the JARDINE FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION & TRIBUTE CENTRE, 8 Princes' St. W., Fenelon Falls, on Friday, March 7th from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and then on Saturday, March 8th at the Fenelon Falls Community Centre from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. A 'Celebration of Life Service' will take place at 12:00 p.m. at the Fenelon Falls Community Centre. Reception to follow. Interment later at Fenelon Falls Cemetery. If desired memorial donations to the Ontario Standardbred Adoption Society or the Kawartha Haliburton Children's Aid Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
