"Barren Lands Bill", Professor emeritus, McMaster University, founder of the Archaeology section, Department of Anthropology; died at home peacefully in his sleep. Survived by his best friend, soul mate and wife, Jackie Crerar. Loving father of Elizabeth M. Noble, daughter of Jean M. Slater Noble. Will be fondly remembered by his step-children Maxwell Colyer, Catharine Crerar-Rhodes, step-grandchildren Gavin, Gloriana, and Josiah. Also survived by sister Nancy H. Young and her husband Jackie and many nieces, nephews, cousins and his beloved aunt, Jessie Wesley. Predeceased by son Gordon William Noble (1969-1988); father William T. Noble (1913-1989); mother Lucy R. Noble (1913-2005) and sister Heather H. Parekh (1943-2003). Will's great sense of humour, patience, kindness and camaraderie will be a great loss to his colleagues, past students and all crew members who worked at his many 'digs'.
