I was deeply saddened to receive the news of Jim’s death. I first met “Mr. White” at my audition for the London Youth Symphony when I was in grade 10. My experience in the orchestra under his directorship changed my life and was a major influence in my decision to pursue a career in the performing arts. I realize that I am just of many who were influenced by his passion for music and his caring soul. The London Youth Symphony is celebrating its 50th year and as its current president I recently had the most wonderful conversation with Jim about the activities that we were planning this season to mark this historic occasion. His enthusiasm for his time with the orchestra and all who played in it was very moving. We will greatly miss his presence at our anniversary celebrations this coming May but I know that his spirit will be with everyone involved.
