Veteran WW# II Sergeant Major,

Peacefully at Fenelon Court Long Term Care, with her family at her side on Monday, April 21, 2014 in her 93rd year. Elizabeth Butterill was the beloved mother of Judi and her husband Rod Bell of Fenelon Falls and John Butterill of Fenelon Falls. This picture was taken in Halifax, Nova Scotia at the loading dock for the Queen Elizabeth. "We were a unit of the Canadian Women's Army Corps in the summer of 1943 heading to England, part of the long term planning for D-Day." Elizabeth taught at most of the schools in the area over a long career as a teacher. Students will remember her teaching them at Powles Corner, Queen Victoria, Central Senior and other schools for the Victoria County Board of Education. Co-workers will remember her work as a negotiator with the Board. In keeping with Elizabeth's wishes cremation has taken place. A private celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
